Martin Shallcross - Baby to Man!
Here are some picture of my Dad from a wee bairn, to when he met my Mum.
This is the youngest image I have of him. The early pictures were all taken in Alderbury where Dad was born.
In this one, Dad is three and a half, and my Aunt Ros is only one month old.
These were taken a few years afterwards.
I think this one is of Dad and Ros around 1948.
These two are of Aunt Ros and Terry. Ros' navy outfit -which previously was her mum's dressing gown, cut in half, and then a grey knitted bit extended as she grew...(in 1946 clothes were very hard to come by!) interestingly you can see it with lots of grey knitting when she was much older!
This one looks like Daisy Shallcross (Martin's mum, on the right) with Ros and Maggie, their Irish live in maid on the left of the picture.
Here are some early pictures of Wallmead Farm, Tisbury. Dad was born in Alderbury, near Salisbury then moved to Tisbury around 1950. The first two picture below show the creation of the main doorway, and the removal of a fairly substantial wall from what is now the courtyard. Dad's study area was thatched back then, it is now tiled.
Here is the farmyard, looking up the hill from the entrance. The second is an aerial photograph.
Here's Ros and Daisy, making some very horsey faces!
Here's Jack, Martin's dad doing a strange Gavotte in the garden at Wallmead!
Some teenage shots of Dad.
And him chasing Ros and Daisy (perhaps!) around the car.
The next pictures are from Austria when he did his National Service and joined 10 Wireless Training Squadron.
The following were taken by Dad in Winchester of Mum and first of all, David, her brother.
Then with her Mum, Edith.
And one with her Dad, Frank.
Here's some more of Mum and Dad in the early years.

Hello, I bumped into your blog while searching on Alderbury. My name is James Hubbard and I believe I live in the house where your dad used to live. I recognise it from your pictures as we have very distinctive window catches and a lawn with a bank just like the one in the pictures. Sadly some of the garden now has other houses built on it.
I would be very interested if you have other pictures as we are currently researching the history of Hillside House. I have two young sons who are probably around the same age as your Dad was when these pictures wer taken. They also enjoy dressing up and playing in the garden although its not indians but soldiers!
Anyway what a pleasant surprise to stumble accross your blog and I would be delighted to hear from you on jim (atsign) jimhubbard.net. (email changed to try to avoid spam!
Kind regards
James
